The economy of the town of Shoumen is changing and developing. The most companies are in the sector of trade and services – about 50 %, and about 12 % are in the group of the processing industries. The main sector presented in the town and region is the light industry which includes companies mostly from the processing, apparel, and food industry. Good developed in Shoumen is also the construction sector.
